Enjoy the New Jersey Highlands Coalition's educational driving tour through Sussex, Morris, and Passaic Counties to explore the history of the Ramapough Lunaape in the northern Highlands. Enjoy a drive through the Highlands Core Forest, 320 square-miles of the most mature and least fragmented forest in the northern part of the state. The trek will include Wanaque Reservoir and areas of historical importance to the Ramapough Lunaape near Mahwah, including ceremonial lands, the Green Valley Settlement, and a trading post. Because this is a "rain check" ticket, staff members will NOT be at the stops to give talks with additional information. We do two Car Treks a year (with different routes and themes) and hope you will join us for our Fall Car Trek for that interactive component.
